Cristal Figueroa is driven by many things, but first and foremost is the desire to have a strong, inclusive, and diverse community. As the daughter of immigrants, Cristal’s upbringing gave her a different perspective on life and a different view on how to fix the issues North Carolinians face in their day to day lives. She believes that is only achievable by bringing people together.

 

It was that perspective that drove her to pursue her higher education and become a first-generation college graduate. Cristal graduated from UNC Asheville in 2018 with a degree in political science and a minor in legal studies. She is a millennial. She currently works three jobs. She understands the struggle of everyday people, not from reading it in the newspaper, but from living it. 

 

She has volunteered her time with True Ridge, a local organization that aids victims of domestic violence. She currently works as a legal aid to an immigration attorney, is a registered behavior technician that works with children with learning disabilities, and in retail. Her work ethic is second to none and she will be just as dedicated to helping make her constituent's lives better.
